Great Beginnings of Sugar Hill has been privately-owned and operated by Jim Newton since 2004. Jim utilizes his educational and professional coaching experience as well as small business ownership experience in the daily operations of our center. Unlike other facilities, you’ll always find one of our owners on-site to address any questions or concerns that you or your child might have.
Only certified teachers — some with advanced degrees — make up our staff of more than 45 professionals. You will find that 99% of our teachers are parents themselves. With tenure running as high as 15 years, employment with Great Beginnings is clearly a career choice they are passionate about. All teachers must be high school graduates, are CPR and First-Aid-Certified and receive 20 additional hours of early childhood education training each year (twice the State of Georgia requirement). Teachers have obtained state-required CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials, an advanced 120-hour certification.
Spanish is our second language at Great Beginnings of Sugar Hill and something that we include in our curriculum free of charge beginning in our infant B room. Every classroom has a bilingual teacher so what your children sing in English, they also learn to sing in Spanish. 17 classrooms and 7 age-appropriate outdoor play areas are housed in our two-building campus along with a multi-purpose gymnasium popular with the kids for showing movies and watching talent shows as well as playing games like basketball, volleyball, and table tennis / ping-pong.
Staff-supervised computer access is available in every classroom starting at age two as well as in the gymnasium for access by kids doing homework in our after-school program. Check out our beautiful new 2,000-square-foot KIDS-CLUB, featuring a media room, library, and computer workstations!
